Attractive Art Deco black patinated bronze figure of a borzoi dog. Probably French, 1920s. This nicely-sized animal sculpture depicts the dog in an active stance, either barking or growling The dog is long, slim and elegant with a thick, bushy tail. This was one of the most popular animals portrayed during the Art Deco era as it is an embodiment of the ideals of symmetry, minimalist glamour, modernism and sophistication. These figures are often accompanied by glamorous young women. It is mounted on a typical for the era black marble base with a white vein running throughout.

Condition: Some wear and scratches to the exterior patination due to handling.
