For your consideration is this charming Art Deco ca. 1930s, Japanese planter or cache pot. This is hand painted in a combination of peach and lavendar backgrounds with flowers, leaves, stems and enamel moriage in white scattered along the flowers. The white band near the rim has raised and gilded half balls, and the base has just the slightest pedestal. I've shown it on an carved Asian wooden pedestal which does not come with the pot. This has been part of my personal collection for many years as it is difficult to find a luster ware piece that is both decorative and utilitarian. It is a wonderful piece for a small plant which I've always kept in the original pot as this does not have a drainage hole. In my downsizing mode, I decided it was time for this to find a new home.
It measures 4" tall, 4.75" across the top of the opening, 3" across the bottom and 14 and 0.75" in circumference at its widest. It is hallmarked Made in Japan on the bottom without a maker's mark. There is some wear to the gold gilding on the little knobs in the band which is fairly common with a piece this age that has had use. No chips, cracks or crazing. A charming smaller piece with many display options.
