This delightful, French, small charm is marked ‘Fix’, a mark founded in 1823 by the jeweller Savard with a secret formula for this type of 18 carat thickly gold filled jewellery. I am dating it to circa 1920-1930. The medallion in the centre of the Virgin Mary is faintly marked by the artist Tairac.
It measures 17mms across the widest part and the medallion is 12mms across. It weighs 1.4 grams.
It is a lovely gothic shape, pierced to accentuate Our Lady in the centre.
The raised image of Mary is truly beautiful.
There is a ring and a bail at the top. The bail is marked ‘FIX’.
The back is plain for an engraving if you wish. The back has a few tiny dings, really only noticeable under magnification. The front is in fine condition.
This lovely and very rare charm will arrive in a gift box.
