A very fine Machine-Age fire screen circa 1940s, it features a finely machined and welded steel frame finished in a brilliant nickel plate in high-polish. The rectilinear form is composed of a large outer rectangle suspending floating vertical rectangular panes of glass surrounded by conforming steel rims flanking a translucent tubular rod of glass secured with machined bands. The frame rests over arched legs. Of exceedingly good quality, this is an unusually sharp presentation piece for the modernist interior.
